- Southern Isles World Record Smashed - The father and son powerboat racing team of Mike and Dave Deacon from Burley have set a new World Record for this course. The RYA approved track encompasses the Isle of Wight, Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey and the Scilly Islands to total 535 nautical miles. Mike and Dave used their rigid inflatable boat (RIB) Hot Lemon to set a time of 9 hours 57 minutes 36 seconds (subject to official confirmation) thoroughly beating the previous record of 20 hours 32 minutes.
