8.1m

“This Scorpion is no working RIB. It has a racing pedigree and a quality finish, and is aimed at the top end of the sports market…..its ride is on a par with that of a far larger craft making it genuinely suitable for long-distance cruising.” David Marsh, Motor Boats & Yachting

The 8.1m was originally conceived for racing but has proved to be one of the best handling all-purpose Scorpions whether it is fitted with a single or twin two-stroke or four-stroke outboards. In 2004 it was by far the most popular model built by Scorpion in Lymington with the traditional layout of twin jockey seats with the wrap-around backrests for the helmsman and co-pilot and the full width water tight aft seat integrated with the outboard well (featured).

A full range of extras are available and the items featured include the sampson post and easily stowed swim ladder. To ensure the perfect ride for each customer, Scorpion has a range of windscreen heights and driving positions and each RIB is tailored to the owner’s height and proportions.

So successful has been the 8.1m model that in 2005 the stepped hull version was introduced (featured below). The added speed created by the air movement through the steps enables the Scorpion to travel at speeds which are easily in excess of 54 knots.
